FYI:

Depending on density of the hair growth, some clients may experience a minor breakout due to the over abundance of oil being produced.  Others may experience hives and itching, swelling or pustules.  Remember, as the hair diminishes, the chance of these breakouts will diminish also.

Vellus hair ( peach fuzz) is a protective device used by the body to protect the skin.  When this hair is extracted, every alarm in the nervous system is set off.  The body produces histamines, which are responsible  for itching, redness and swelling.

In addition, the body sends out white blood cells

to protect the follicle from infection, resulting in pustules.

It is important for you to realize that these break-outs are not product related or technique related.  They are skin-related, and we have no control over how each individual’s skin will react.   You may want to take an antihistamine for allergic reaction.  If you are unsure if you can take antihistamines, please contact your doctor.

AFTER TREATMENT ADVICE:

  • Do not use any cream, lotions, cleansers, or make-up to the area that was sugared for atleast 12 hours.

Redness & Itchy Skin

Due to excessive blood flow to the treated areas, some client’s skin will look pink and feel hot and/or itchy immediately after treatment.  Others may take a longer time to react, or not react at all.  These reactions are normal as long as the redness disappears with an hour.

Treatment Advice for Redness & Itchy Skin

  • Avoid direct heat such as hot baths for 12 hours.
  • Avoid sun-beds, and sunbathing 48 hours after treatment.
  • Skin must not be rubbed or scratched after treatment.
  • Avoid wearing tight-fitting garments immediately following treatment.
  • You should not exercise immediately following treatment.

Ingrown Hairs:

Due to a build-up of dead skin cells formed over the mouth of the follicle, the new hair does not have the strength to push its way through the skin’s surface.  You may feel itchy and develop bumps.  Clients with dry skin are more prone to this condition.

Treatment Advice for Ingrown Hairs:

  • Soak 3 times per week in warm water.
  • Exfoliate for a few minutes.
  • Pat dry & hydrate with cream.  It is important to hydrate with a cream containing high percentage of purified water.

DEPILAR SYSTEM: PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL

  • The Depilar System™ uses natural enzymes and has been tested for adverse effects on human beings and no adverse effects were found.
  • For maximum results the Depilar System™ is used in conjunction with waxing, sugaring, threading or tweezing where the hair is removed by the root. When waxing, the hair must be at least ¼ inch (6mm) in length to ensure the hair is removed by the root, and the follicles are left empty enabling the Depilar System™ enzyme-based gels to enter the empty follicles and break down the cells responsible for hair growth.
  • It is recommended that you not shower or bathe 2 hours prior to a Depilar Treatment. Also, no oils or talcs should be used in conjunction with the hair removal procedure as these may clog pores or change the pH of the skin.
  • After any waxing or sugaring treatment sun exposure should be avoided for 24 hours, giving the skin a chance to recuperate. And as always, be sure to wear sunscreen, avoid the sun at noon and don’t stay in the sun too long!

In very rare cases a small local urticarial rash can result that will disappear within 48 hours. For clients sensitive to salicylic acid you should spot test before a full Depilar System™ treatment.
